#BlackLivesMatter
Black lives matter(BLM) is an international activist movement, originating in the African-American community, that campaigns violence and systemic racism towards black people. BLM regularly holds protests speaking out against police killings of the black people; and broader issues such as racial profiling, police brutality; and racial inequality in the united states criminal justice. The movement began after the exculpation of George Zimmerman in the shooting of African-American teen Trayvon Martin.
In addressing this movement a various use of hashtags and social media sides such as twitter took place. The use of hashtags made it easier for people with same interest to locate, follow and contribute their view points about the campaign. The use of hashtags also contributed to the marketing of the campaign.
The advantages of using social media to protest such movement as the public relations practitioner is that the activist gets the change to voice their grievances and appraisal, the get the chance to propose solutions to identified problems by engaging in the variety of collective actions. The use of social media spread awareness global about the campaign, even people abroad engaged in the campaign by sharing videos and pictures showing their engagement. Social media promotes content by using different effective ways on various platforms.
The disadvantages of using social media to protest is that it decrease the face to face communication, the activist impose their protest online rather than in real world, it causes distraction when the activists from countries were there is no such issue starts to protest on the behalf of their fellow activists. The use of social media deprecates the understanding of the main issue, hence opinions takes places, ending up loosing the main mandate of the protest or the background of the issue.
In conclusion, in order to to gain trust as the authentic and creditable source, thorough research must be done about the background of the issue, the opinions must be supported with actual facts, the prp must be responsible for every post on their site ;and respond to every comment in a positive way; showing professionalism and maturity.

All humans are important and we are all equal before the law. If black people are to be brutally beaten by the police, white people should also be treated the same. However I highly oppose inequality and police brutality towards black people. Black lives matter indeed!!
ReplyDeleteIt such a crucial issue indeed, hence such issues are not new, you can recall colonization and apartheid; which also resulted in a major of deaths in the our country.
DeleteWe have dealt with inequality during the apartheid era and I think it is important for us not to go through such tragedy again. We are all humans black or White, the color of our skin does not determine how superior we are from each other. Black Lives Matter in all our communities.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, back in the days our parents couldn't voice out their view points because of lack of technology and the rate of literacy.
Delete#blacklivesmatter , we are seen as if we are not humans we are made to feel inferior and not good enough, it's in our hands as blacks to fight for our own dignity and show them that we are of great importance and that our existence matters. let us stand up black people and fight for ourselves.
ReplyDeleteExtinction is the only way to stop the black movement, while we still survive, we will die fighting for our rights and dignity as humans.

ReplyDeleteThe fact that blacks are treated equal to white people must come an end. After all we are all human beings .The only thing we must do is to show love to one another and stop judging according to skin color
We are not defined by our skin color, but the capabilities we cater, black or white we are still the same.
